Signs on Our Evacuation “Vacation”

Those of us who lived in dread of the approaching Hurricane Milton needed to get out of town, or, better yet, get out of state due to those historic, last minute “wobbles.” The numbers were scary (gusts of up to 200 mph!) with a bullseye right on us. So, because some of us were required to evacuate, and others just thought it was smart, we decided to go far out of the state…somewhere nice…New Orleans. That’s not to say we left the worry behind, and we actually spent a good amout of time glued to the weather news. We did, however, take dinner breaks seeing Bourbon Street and having some great local food. Afterward we’d be right back to the news praying our houses could survive those predictions.

Now, being a relatively recent widow, I talked to my late husband asking him to watch over our house and all of us. I had received so many signs from him the first year he was gone that I wrote a book about them as I have shared before. (You Don’t KNow Jack! :How Antics from My Late Husband’s Spirit Give Undeniable Evidence of Afterlife.) I hadn’t been looking for signs as often as I did that first year and just figured he heard me and his love would keep us as safe as spirit can.

As we arrived at the airb&b late that night, we each went into our bedrooms to unpack. I went into the adjoining bathroom and saw one of the lightbulbs in the 3-bulb fixture over the sink began to flicker wildly and made a mental note that that bulb would probably blow out soon. I turned off the light and went back into the bedroom where I turned on the bedside lamp. It too began to flicker…almost flash. (Another note to self…this place has bad bulbs.) Shortly after unpacking, I went to check the adjacent bedroom, and that overhead light suddenly began to flicker. I may be slow when it comes to recognizing signs, but now the coincidence couldn’t be ignored. ..especially since I went back to the other two lights and all three were suddenly just fine. There was no flickering at all, and none of them ever flickered again throughout our stay.

(Thank you Jack, and so sorry I make you work so hard to get my attention. It was so comforting to know you were right there with us.)

  1. I love that you now recognize the signs – flickering lights – and don’t worry about them but instead know that they’re his signs showing you he’s there with you!!
