Over the first few decades of my life, I was more religious than spiritual. Now I find myself more spiritual than religious. Recently, I’ve heard spiritual thinking as labeled “woo woo” which strikes me funny. Google says its slang for those who accept the unscientific, uncountable, or unproven. And yet, whatever is unproven today may be popularly accepted tomorrow with just a matter of time before proof is uncovered. And how do we “prove” any one religion or spiritual belief is the correct one? Everything is so relative and personal. To me, it doesn’t matter what I believe, and hopefully, I don’t imply I have The Truth, either. I believe that all Love comes from the same well and we are all immersed in a Oneness regardless of what we call it, or in what language. I also believe there’s so much more we just can’t know with the limitation of our physical brains. And it’s okay… I can wait.
I do find comfort in my beliefs, and I hope everyone else finds comfort in theirs. I figure there are over eight billion people in the world, and they all have their own unique genes, upbringing, life experiences, belief systems, cultures, etc. It would be impossible for anyone to duplicate all of those aspects of life to be identical with someone else. Even siblings have different genes with different birth order and experiences even if they are raised by the same parents in the same house,, in the same neighborhood, and of the same culture. After all, adults change over time as well, and they mature into different people as they parent their different children over the years. We all have different natures, emotions and needs, and we’re all evolving…all eight billion of us. And what thoughts we aliign ourselves with pretty much define our behavior throughout our lives.
I’ve heard it said that for those who believe, proof is not necessary. And to the skeptic, no proof is possible. My goals are simple no matter what they are called. I want to remain respectful of the beliefs of others, live in alignment with my own beliefs, and be kind to others and this earth. I figure when we each cross over, we’ll find out!
