A Bird Sign

The island in the lake near my home had always been a beautiful spectacle of hundreds of nesting birds in the spring. Then, during Hurricane Milton, that island was literally blown over to (and some of it onto) the banks of the surrounding properties. Since then (well over a year now), I’ve been supporting the HOA as they met with contractors and agencies to clean up the spread-out island so those nesting birds can come back to their original nesting site. Today was to be the final meeting, and I was preparing to communicate what was needed to the contractor’s worker. I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to explain it well enough and made a little request for help from my late husband in spirit for me and for the birds.

Once again he did not fail to let me know he was around. I happened to walk into our guest room before the contractor came, and my attention was taken by the wall where I have some ceramic doves mounted. I suddenly noticed that one of the doves was actually lit up! The sunlight coming in the window was coming from a direction that could not possibly shine on that wall. I followed the light to a small spot reflecting from a lampshade across the room! How perfect of a sign.. a bird … and lit up to get my attention!
