Fooling Around on the Island

I know I’ve shared how the island in the middle of our lake blew over to my yard after Hurricane Milton. Now, as the nesting season is beginning, the nesting birds are flying in landing on what was a birdless island, and I have a “bird’s eye view.” It’s truly up close and personal! Last week they were fussing and finding their mates. This week they are pairing off, claiming their territories, squawking, building nests and getting “busy.” I love imagining what they are thinking as if they are people! Before the island moved, and before my husband passed, we used to sit out on our patio with binoculars, and he would make funny comments about what he was seeing. I’ve missed his sense of humor and sharing this with him. However, I’ve learned to feel his energy with me and find peace as I enjoy feeling connected with nature and his spirit.
