Kindness Day

I heard on the news this morning that it’s Kindness Day. Maybe that’s just in my local area because World Kindness Day is in November, but it caught my attention as to why we have to pick one day. I guess it’s a reminder because we all get so focused on our lives, that our brains get consumed with our to-do lists, and we don’t make that effort to do any kind deeds. I hope we can see kindness as how we live in general, everyday. If we go about all we do with a general wish to simply react to others with positive responses right as the need or opportunity comes up, it happens naturally and everywhere. In the end, it’s really easy to be kind, don’t you think? A gesture, a smile, a kind word, a phone call…anything that brings good feelings or comfort to another as you move throughout your day and let the “butterfly effect” do its thing. Notice that when someone you connect with gives you a kind comment, holds the door for you, or simply smiles, the feel-good moment stays with you for a bit…positive energy generated within you… with a little bump in your immune system when you return the smile, or like a positve spark in your brain… a shared lubricant to both of your days! So I’m hoping, with all of the current conflicts and stresses in the world, we can all try to remember to take on that mindset in general, every day, and, hopefully, it will impact everyone – elevating us all!
