It’s been a year and a half since my husband passed, and I was afraid I would stop getting signs from him the way I have been getting them up to now. Last night, as I closed my eyes to go to sleep, I mentally asked him not to stop letting me know he’s still around. When I woke up this morning, I was pleasantly surprised with a little sign that couldn’t otherwise be explained.
In my bathroom is a small nightlight plugged into one outlet, several overhead lights, and my brand new hair dryer, only used twice, plugged into the second outlet. Without any of the lights going out or even blinking, the ground fault button on the plug of the brand new blow dryer across the room suddenly popped out making an attention-getting “click” as I was just walking into the room. I immediately went over to it and tried to turn on the blow dryer, but it was dead. I reset the ground fault button on its plug, and tried it again, and it worked…so the outlet was also working. I later used the blow dryer and it ran for quite a while and was fine. I can’t help but have that challenging skepticism at first, troubleshooting all possible causes until I have no more. And it is then, with delight, I break into a big smile and send my mental message, “Good morning, my dear, and thank you! I love you, too.”
Now maybe people will think I’m crazy, but, if they do, I would seem to be crazy only in the most benign way since I pose no harm to anyone. I have been so blessed to have received so much validation that he’s with me. I’ll always make a quick, honest check on other possibilities each time, but then I can now easily conclude that his passionate personalitiy has the energetic force in the afterlife to pull off his clever electric and electronic efforts. As I have said before, one of his favorite signs is to mess with the thermostat (as he promised he would do before he passed). He had been a technical trainer in the HVAC world and knew his way around the related electronics and electricity. Even after I got up this morning, I received a second sign, I went to the thermostat, which had been set at 73 degrees for the evening, to turn it up for my daytime setting of 76. Within minutes, the AC kicked on (which it shouldn’t have). It kept running and had already dropped the temperature in the house down to 72. I went back to check what I set it on, and it was still set at 76. As I turned it up to 77, the AC immediately stopped running. I put it back on 76 and it stayed there. Another little “hello.”
Needless to say, at first his antics alarmed me because, thinking something was broken, I would call for service, or worry that I’d have to replace what was not functioning as expected. However, now that I know his sense of humor comes through with his signs, I take a pause, check it out, and then enjoy the comfort, and even entertainment, in his little “hellos.”
